Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s Legal Team Awaits Documents To Support ICC Interim Release Bid
DUTERTE’S LEGAL TEAM – The lawyers of former President Rodrigo Duterte asked the International Criminal Court (ICC) to hold off on deciding over the former Chief Executive’s interim release bid.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands for more than 100 days now. Recently, several members of his family claimed that the former Chief Executive has massively grew then inside the ICC detention facility.

The ex-wife of the former President, Elizabeth Zimmerman, claimed that Duterte is “skin and bones” now inside the ICC detention facility. Their children, Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, also made the same claim over their father’s physique now.

The claim of the Duterte family sparked concern among the supporters of the former President. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte assured the supporters of her father that it is because of his loss of appetite. According to her, she even prefers the current slim physique of the former President now as his previous physique with a huge belly looked unhealthy for his heart.

Previously, it was conformed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s legal team requested the ICC for his interim release to an undisclosed country. According to Vice Pres. Duterte, her father can be called a “super senior” citizen now at 80 years old and not all his needs can be met inside the ICC detention facility.
The Vice President believes that the former President can be taken cared of better if there could be a private nurse or caregiver to take care of him. Recently, an update about the interim release bid of the former President crossed the surface. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Duterte’s legal team requested the ICC to hold off on deciding on the former President’s interim release bid.

Duterte’s legal team submitted their request to the ICC on July 18. According to the former President’s camp, they still await some documents and information that will support the interim release bid of Duterte. According to the lead legal counsel of the former President, Nicholas Kaufman, they are trying to acquire a certain information from an undisclosed source.
Based on the report, the request was submitted by the legal team of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to the Pre-Trial Chamber of the ICC. According to his lawyers, there is still a report that must be completed after their expert was allegedly temporarily barred from conducting an assessment.
Currently, both Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos are in The Hague. The Vice President even shared that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte spoke about her friendship with Sen. Imee Marcos.
