LENI ROBREDO – The former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor announced that the budget of the city will not include Confidential Funds.
Today, several winners in the 2025 Midterm Elections have already taken their oath. One of them is former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo who was accompanied by her daughters, Aika and Jillian Robredo.

Former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo won as mayor of Naga City in the 2025 Midterm Elections. Her landslide victory made her the first female local chief executive in the city that also had her late husband, the late former Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, has also served as mayor.

Robredo had always wanted to be in the local government over the national government as revealed by her former running-mate, former Senator Kiko Pangilinan. Both of them were victorious during the 2025 Midterm polls with Pangilinan securing a comeback in the Senate.
Another close ally of Robredo and Pangilinan, former senator Bam Aquino who was their campaign manager in the 2022 Elections, also secured a “come-from-behind” win in the 2025 Midterm Elections. He placed second in the Senate Magic 12.

Naga Mayor Leni Robredo was elated over the victory of senators-elect Kiko Pangilinan and Bam Aquino. She stressed that hope is really alive. Recently, she took her oath as the newly-elected mayor of Naga City and she gave a speech where she vowed that she will purge corruption in the city.
Based on a report on GMA News, former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo announced that they will remove Confidential Funds in the city’s budget as part of the efforts to curb corruption. According to her, the Human Resources System will be based on merit and the fund will be used on essential programs given the limited resources of the city.
“We need to make some sacrifices. Primarily, we will remove confidential funds from our budget. So expect this to be gone. This sacrifice will be used to ensure that the local government will be efficient, and that it will only reward the employees who are genuinely dedicated in doing their job,” the Naga Mayor said.
Robredo also expressed that she will immediately issue two executive orders mandating zero tolerance for corruption in the city through transparent procurement and mass regularization program for casual employees who are in the service for 10 years and beyond. Based on the report, there are 107 of them.
“We will purge corruption here in Naga. There will be no inflated prices, SOP, kickback or acceptance of gifts in exchange of favors,” Robredo said.
Naga Mayor Leni Robredo said that under such system, more people will be motivated to join in the fast delivery of the social services. It was 37 years ago when her late husband served as the mayor of Naga. Prior to her victory in the elections, former Vice Pres. Robredo waded through floodwaters to deliver lifesaving aid to the typhoon victims.
