Presumptive Sen. Tito Sotto Claims Talking To 3-4 People over Senate Presidency
TITO SOTTO – The former Senate President claimed that there are allegedly ongoing talks assured support for him for the presidency in the upper chamber.
In his statement after the May 2025 Elections, Pres. Bongbong Marcos assured the Filipinos that their mission and work will continue although not all the candidates of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago will secure a seat in the Senate. Six (6) bets of the grand alliance are poised to win in the 2025 Senatorial Elections.

Former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto is one of the Alyansa candidates who is poised to win in the 2025 Senatorial Elections. He currently ranks 8th in the partial and unofficial result of the senatorial race after 99.12% of the election returns has been transmitted.

Sotto ran for vice president in 2022 but lost to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Aside from the former Senate President, other Alyansa bets who are winning in the 2025 Senatorial Elections based on the partial results are ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo, former Sen. Ping Lacson, Sen. Pia Cayetano, Las Piñas district Representative Camille Villar, and former Sen. Lito Lapid. Marcos Jr. extended his hand to the election winners regardless of colors.

Ahead of the proclamation of the senatorial election winners, former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto claimed that he is open to seat in the Senate presidency again if he has the numbers. Recently, the 2022 Vice Presidential Candidate claimed that there are people convincing him to be the chief of the upper chamber in the 20th Congress.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Sotto claimed that three (3) to four (4) people are allegedly talking to him over the Senate presidency. He also said that these people assured him that their peers are also ready to support the former Senate President.
“Yes, yes. I would be lying if I said no. May mga kumakausap sa akin… Mga tatlo, apat kausap ko. Ganoon lang. And they’re saying that their peers are ready to support me. Sabi ko naman, if we have 13, I will accept,” he expressed.
Based on the report, former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto who was chief of the upper chamber from May 2018 until the end of his second term as senator in June 2022 refused to give an estimate of how many people are on his side. According to him, he has yet to talk to Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero over the Senate leadership but they will eventually talk about it.

Currently, the Senate is seemingly preparing for the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero even showed his robe for Duterte’s impeachment trial.
