Former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo Proclaimed as Mayor of Naga City
LENI ROBREDO – The former Vice President who won as Naga City Mayor is happy over the “come-from-behind win” of former Senators Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan.
This May 2025 Midterm Elections, former Vice Pres. Robredo chose the local election and ran for mayor in Naga City, the post previously held by her husband, the late former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, for several years before he led the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) under the Aquino administration. The former Vice President is a lawyer who was focused in helping the people in the marginal sectors then.
Amid the election campaign period, former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo did not just campaign for herself. She also joined the campaign sorties of former Senators Kiko Pangilinan and Bam Aquino and endorsed the two (2) senatorial bets. Pangilinan was her running mate during the 2022 Elections and although the results did not favor their camp, the Leni-Kiko tandem made history by gathering millions of hopeful Filipinos.
Campaigning for Bam and Kiko in Iloilo, former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo said that others have separated already but the “Kakampinks” are still together.
The 2025 Midterm Elections are over and several cities and municipalities have proclaimed the winners of the local polls. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo was proclaimed winner in the mayoralty race in Naga. She secured a landslide victory against her rivals, Ganda Abrazado and Toots De Quiros Ortega.
Following her mayoralty win, the former Vice President elected as Naga City Mayor promised to strengthen the mechanisms for a good and transparent governance in the city. On social media, the Naga Mayor-elect expressed her gratitude to the people of Naga not only for her win but as well as for her allies’ — former senators Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan.
Naga Mayor-elect Leni Robredo thanked the Nagueños “for the big win- 84,259 votes equivalent to 91.6% of those who voted. She also expressed her gratitude for the support to An Bagong Team Naga. The former Vice President is also elated over former senators Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan’s “come-from-behind win”. She stressed that all the sacrifices and gambles are paid off.
“Thank you to the Filipino people. Buhay na buhay ang pag-asa,” Robredo said in her post.
Former Vice Pres. Robredo has always emphasized the value of leaders showing up for the people. During the onslaught of Typhoon Kristine that affected Naga, former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo warmed countless hearts by braving the floodwater to distribute food and water for the victims of the calamity.
