POPE FRANCIS – The Vatican said in its latest update about health condition of the Roman Pontiff that he is showing “slight improvement”.
Currently, there is an outpour of prayers across the globe for the Pope who is currently fighting for his life in Gemelli hospital in Rome, Italy. The Roman Pontiff is confined in the hospital since February 14, 2025.

The Pope experience breathing difficulties and chest pains so he was brought to the hospital. He is currently confined in a special papal suite in Gemelli hospital. Pope Francis previously said that he might “not make it this time”.

The Pope had bronchitis which developed into double pneumonia. However, he had a part of his lungs removed when he was young and it is making his recovery more challenging. On Saturday, he had a respiratory attack which left the Roman Pontiff in a critical state.

Prior to his respiratory attack last Saturday, the clinical condition of the Pope actually showed “slight” improvements on the 7th day. His fever was gone but the doctors admitted that he is not out of danger. The improvements made it more shocking when the Roman Pontiff had a respiratory attack.
His condition reportedly required the transfusion of two (2) units of blood. The Monday update about his condition also said that the Pontiff remains in a critical state.
Recently, Vatican issued another update about the condition of Pope Francis now. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vatican said that “the critical clinical conditions of the Holy Father demonstrate a slight improvement”.
As per the update, there were no episodes of asthmatic respiratory attacks as of Monday evening. The results of some laboratory tests of the Pope also showed some improvements. Based on the report, Vatican said that the Pope had received the Eucharist in the morning and did some work in the afternoon.
Furthermore, based on the report, Vatican said that Pope Francis is receiving oxygen “with slightly reduced flows and percentage of oxygen”. However, due to the complexity of the clinical picture, the doctors of the Supreme Pontiff refused to decide on the prognosis.
