Aleck Bovick recently made a surprising revelation about her gender identity, marking a significant personal milestone. Known for her roles as a sexy actress, Bovick disclosed that she is now openly part of the LGBTQ+ community.
During her guest appearance on the cooking show Lutong Bahay, hosted by actress Mikee Quintos, Aleck shared that she only fully realized and embraced her true identity at the age of 40. She admitted that although she had certain feelings since childhood, she never paid much attention to them.
“Bata pa lang kasi ako meron na ‘kong napi-feel, napapansin sa sarili ko pero ‘di ko siya pinansin, in-entertain, tuloy-tuloy lang. The way ako kumilos, the way ako pumorma, the way ako magsalita,” she revealed.
It was only when she turned 39 that a sense of incompleteness began to weigh on her. She reflected on what was missing in her life and eventually came to terms with her true self.
“Hindi ko alam ano ‘yun, so para kang hinahanap mo, anong mali, parang may kulang, tapos ayun na. ‘Yun na,” she recalled.
When asked by Mikee if she currently has a partner, Bovick confidently responded, “Yes, nasa LGBT world tayo ngayon.”
Despite initially struggling with self-acceptance, she eventually embraced her true identity.
“Nung una, yes. Totoo ba? Tanda ko na ha, ano na lang sasabihin nila? Paano ‘yung ganito, totoo ba ‘to, mako-confirm ko ba sa sarili ko? Tapos parang sabi ko, ‘Eh kiber. Kung ganito talaga ako, kailangan ‘kong tanggapin, kailangan ko siyang i-accept,’” she said.
Aleck emphasized that everyone, including herself, deserves happiness and love.
“You deserve it. I think after everything that you went through, it’s about time na kayo naman ang masaya, na ma-feel niyo naman ‘yung love na binibigay niyo sa iba,” Mikee added.
“Hindi ka naman selfish kapag pinili mo rin namang mahalin ‘yung sarili mo,” Aleck concluded.
Interestingly, Bovick also shared another dream she once had—becoming a soldier. While acting became her career path, her aspirations show the depth of her personality beyond her on-screen image.
