Doc Willie Ong Undergoing Treatment After Being Diagnosed W/ Sarcoma Cancer
DOC WILLIE ONG – Cardiologist Doc Willie Ong revealed he’s undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with sarcoma cancer.
Cardiologist Doc Willie Ong revealed that he has cancer and is currently undergoing treatment for the illness. Ong shared this in a video posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, September 14, which was recorded on August 29.
The release of the video was delayed due to Ong’s “serious” and “complicated” journey through chemotherapy.
According to Doc Willie Ong, doctors found a 16 x 13 x 12 centimeter sarcoma in his abdomen, hidden behind his heart and in front of his T10 spine. The cardiologist described the tumor as “very, very big” and one of the largest they have encountered.
“Itong bukol na ito, malaking-malaki raw. Isa sa pinakamalaki na nakita nila,” said Ong.
Ong underwent a series of tests to determine what type of cancer he had.
“Ipinadala pa dugo ko for genetic testing abroad. Nalaman na ‘yung kalaban. Ang pangalan Sarcoma [cancer]. Marami tayong sarcoma sa atin pero ‘yung sarcoma ay nagtatago na very rare, very aggressive, very big na inipit na ang liver, inferior cena cava… naipit pa ‘yung puso ko,” Ong said.
According to the Mayo Clinic, sarcoma refers to a variety of cancers that develop in bones, soft tissues, or connective tissues.
Ong first experienced symptoms in April 2023, including fatigue, shortness of breath, and difficulty swallowing while on medical missions. At first, he thought these were just signs of aging. However, by October, he began suffering from intense back pain that radiated to his upper spine, making it difficult for him to sleep.
In August, the pain worsened significantly, prompting him to describe it as “the worst pain of my life,” rating it a 10 out of 10 in severity.
Doc Willie became well-known for his health-related videos. It’s also worth noting that he ran for vice president in the 2022 elections under the ticket of former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso.
