QC Councilor Aiko Melendez Embraces Job as Public Servant amid Typhoon Carina’s Onslaught

AIKO MELENDEZ – The actress-politician revealed that the car of her son, Andre Yllana, was swept away by flood caused by Typhoon Carina.

Typhoon Carina brought massive flooding in several areas in the Philippines most especially in Luzon. It brought heavy rains and strong winds which intensified the southwest monsoon or the habagat. Several areas were left under a State of Calamity.

The Metro Manila Council declared the National Capital Region (NCR) under a State of Calamity. Several areas in Luzon and Mindanao are under the said declaration after the storm damaged houses and livelihoods of countless Filipino families. The authorities also recorded deaths amid the wrath of Typhoon Carina.

Recently, actress-politician Aiko Melendez attested that the challenges don’t exempt anyone based on the status in life. She shared that the car of her son, Andre Yllana, was swept away by flood.

In a post on social media, Aiko who is currently serving as a councilor in Quezon City shared that they tried to run after the vehicle that was being swept away by flood but they failed. Thus, instead, they just prayed. She stressed that the car is only a material thing and what is important is that nobody gets hurt.

Aiko Melendez also explained why only some of them can go around the city to extend help to the victims of Typhoon Carina. According to the Q.C. Councilor, half of her team were trapped in their respective houses due to flood and their things were damaged.

The actress-politician assured her constituents that they will not lose hope as she is determined to serve the people first before attending to her personal problems. She admitted that although she wants to hug her son for what happened, she has a bigger duty to do being a public servant. According to Aiko, it is how being a public servant has made changes in her life.

Aiko stated in her post that although they are incomplete, her team is ready to go around and extend help to those who are in need amid the onslaught of Typhoon Carina. She stated an encouragement that we will get through this challenge.
