Former Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque To Attend July 29 Senate Hearing
HARRY ROQUE – The former Presidential Spokesman confirmed that he has met suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
One of the loudest issues in the Philippines nowadays is the illegal operations of some Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators or POGOs in the country. There are known individuals who were being called in the Senate to speak on the issue.
Suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is faced with allegations about her alleged involvement to the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town. Currently, there is a pending Senate arrest order against Mayor Guo after she skipped the recent two (2) hearings set by the upper chamber.
According to the lawyer of Mayor Guo, his client was “traumatized” by how she was treated in the previous Senate hearings she attended. The Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms visited all the registered addresses of the Mayor but failed to locate her.
Mayor Alice Guo recently wrote a letter to Senate President Chiz Escudero. She apologized to the Senate President and justified that she did not mean to mandate the senators when she said in a previous statement that there are critical issues that they must focus on like poverty and food shortage.
However, Mayor Guo made no mention if she will attend to the next Senate hearing set on July 29 or not. She might be tagged as “fugitive” if she fails to appear at the hearing. Also one of those who are invited in the next Senate hearing is former presidential spokesman Harry Roque.
Roque’s name was linked to the illegal POGO operations after his letter was founded in a gaming hub raided in Porac, Pampanga. According to Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco, the former spokesman has helped a raided POGO firm re-apply for a license.
Based on a report on GMA News, Harry Roque is ready to attend the Senate hearing on July 29. He is currently in the United States for the events set by the Hakbang ng Maisug. According to Roque, he will expose the protectors of POGOs in the country at the hearing.
Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque also confirmed that he has met suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo. Based on the report, he claimed that he met her at the house of the in-law of former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez and he has also joined her in a rally in Bulacan.
The House Joint Committee on Public Order and Safety and Games and Amusement wants to ask Roque about his alleged connection to the illegal POGO operations in the country. Recently, during his 3rd State of the Nation Address, President Bongbong Marcos announced a ban on POGOs in the country.
