Suspended Mayor Alice Guo Denies Accusations Against Her, Gives Message for Senators
MAYOR ALICE GUO – Amid an ongoing arrest order from the Senate and the multiple allegations against her, the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor issued an official statement.
The Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms has yet to serve the arrest order against suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Guo. The authorities failed to locate Mayor Guo in all her registered addresses. They also visited her farm and her garments factories but found negative presence.
Mayor Guo is accused of her alleged involvement in the Philippine Offshore Gaming operations. In the previous hearings, she was also questioned about her nationality and her identity. Guo’s fingerprints matched the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national.
Mayor Alice Guo skipped the June 26 and the July 10 hearings set by the Senate. Prior to the latest Senate hearing set, the lawyer of Guo said that the Mayor was “traumatized” and “drained” from the many accusations against her.
Following her absence in the hearing, Guo was cited for contempt by the Senate committee. Senate President Chiz Escudero signed the arrest order that mandated the OSAA to serve the arrest order to the Mayor but the authorities could not locate her.
The Court of Appeals issued a Freeze Order on the assets of Mayor Guo and several individuals and companies facing allegations of involvement in illegal POGOs. Recently, amid an ongoing arrest order, the Mayor issued an official statement.
Mayor Alice Guo denied the accusations against her. She also explained that she is prioritizing her health and her peace of mind now so she can properly address the legal issues against her. According to her, she is ready to face the accusations against her if they have an evidence in a fair trial and at a proper forum.
The Mayor also stated that she does not wish to be used by anyone allegedly for their political ambitions. She stressed that the Philippines is facing several critical issues like poverty, food shortage, unemployment, and national security that need to be focused on.
“Am I really the country’s biggest problem that they need to focus on? Or they just want to project me as the antagonist / villain?” the Mayor said.
Mayor Alice Guo also debunked the news linking her to the threats against Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian. She stressed that she believes and adheres to the rule of law. Here’s her official statement:
