Ndemic Creations, a UK-based independent games studio, said in a statement that the company has seen a trend in the increase of its players when a 2019 novel coronavirus spreads across the world. This, as players wanted to know about “how diseases spread and to understand the complexities of viral outbreaks.”

The gaming company reminded the public “not sensationalizing serious real-world issues” as the 2019 novel coronavirus has been recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as other leading medical organizations around the world.

Ndemic Creations also said that Plague Inc. was “a game, not a scientific model,” and the 2019 novel coronavirus was “a very real situation which is impacting a huge number of people.”

On late Thursday, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that the organization was declaring the outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus a global emergency as the virus cases already spread to at least 18 countries globally. Also, the Department of Health has confirmed its first case of the pathogen in the Philippines.
