After Spending Working Holidays, Marcos Jr. Allegedly Set to Sign P6.79 Proposed Budget for 2026 Today
MARCOS JR. – The use of cellphones are reportedly not allowed in the supposed ceremonial signing of the 2026 budget by the President today.
Malacañang previously claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is set to spend the Christmas holidays reviewing the P6.7 trillion proposed budget for 2026 approved by the bicameral conference committee. According to the Palace, the President wants an in-depth review of the proposed budget to check on the difference from the original allocations set under the National Expenditure Program or NEP.

The Office of the President is asking for a P27.3 billion budget for 2026. Marcos Jr.’s Office is poised to get the lion’s share in the proposed confidential and intelligence funds for 2026. The OP is requested for a P4.5 billion CIF.

The proposed budget of the Office of the President also includes the P17.4 billion budget allocation for the country’s hosting of the ASEAN Summit and related meetings this year. The office of Marcos Jr. also asks for P1.018 billion budget for the President’s local and foreign trips — it is lower from the P1.29 billion for Marcos Jr.’s local and foreign trips in 2025.
Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to sign the proposed 2026 national budget today. The country is operating on a reenacted budget in the first week of the year. The finance authorities previously claimed that it won’t have very negative effects.

Based on a post of News5 on social media, Marcos Jr. is set to sign the P6.79 trillion proposed budget for 2026 today. However, as reporters are allegedly not allowed to use their cellphones during the ceremonial signing of the national fund for this year.
Out of the P6.79 trillion proposed budget for 2026, the P889.2 million is allocated for the Office of the Vice President. The proposed budget for the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte bears no confidential and intelligence funds amid the questions over the alleged misuse of the P625-million confidential funds led by the Vice President.

Previously, the proposed budget for Duterte’s office was cut to P733.2 by the House of Representatives. Mamamayang Liberal party-list Representative Leila de Lima led the lowering of the budget after the Vice President skipped a plenary session.
The Senate restored the proposed budget of Duterte’s office to P889.2 million. Senator Bong Go offered to give some of the budget for his office to the OVP. Previously, amid the flood control mess, the Department of Public Works and Highways or DPWH asked the bicam to restore a portion of the budget cut from their proposed fund.
