After Signing the 2026 Budget, Marcos Jr. Gives Message for Filipino People

MARCOS JR. – The President reiterated his vow to fight corruption after he signed the P6.79 trillion budget for 2026.

After spending the Christmas holiday working for the review of the proposed national fund amounting to P6.79 trillion, Pres. Bongbong Marcos signed the 2026 national budget today. The country operated on a reenacted fund in the first week of January.

After signing the 2026 national budget, the President announced his order to end the “Padrino System” in the Philippine government. According to him, the politicians are no longer allowed to distribute cash aid and other forms of assistance to the public.

Marcos Jr. stressed that the assistance from the government should reach the beneficiaries without patronage and in full amount or state. According to him, the government will strictly implement the provision that prohibits political involvement in the distribution of all forms of assistance to the public.

“So we shall also serve as vanguard of public funds ensuring the prudent use of every Peso. We will strictly implement the provision on the prohibition of political involvement in the distribution of cash and other forms of financial assistance,” the President said.

Aside from announcing his order to bar the politicians from distributing cash aid and all forms of assistance to the public, based on a post of News5 on social media, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also assured that the government will see to it that the national fund goes to the Filipino people.

According to the President, they will not allow it that the money of the people will go to corruption. Based on the post, he stressed that the government will make sure that the people’s fund goes to the right projects and responds to the real needs of the people.

“Kasama ninyo kami sa layuning tiyakin na ang budget ng bayan ay para sa bayan. Hindi tayo papayag na mapunta sa kurakot ang pinaghirapan ng bawat Pilipino,” Marcos Jr. said.

From the 2026 national budget, the Office of the President is poised to get P27 billion for this year while the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is allocated a total of P889 million. Marcos Jr.’s office also gets the lion’s share in the confidential and intelligence fund — P4.5 billion out of the P10.77 billion CIF.

Recently, Executive Sec. Ralph Recto also spoke on the 2026 national budget.
