Why Mariel Rodriguez and Toni Gonzaga Say Women Should Always Know Their Value
TONI GONZAGA – Television personalities Mariel Rodriguez and Toni Gonzaga sparked conversation online after sharing their strong views on why women should never chase men in relationships.
Mariel Rodriguez and Toni Gonzaga shared empowering insights about self-worth and relationships, emphasizing that women should never feel the need to chase after men. The two, who are part of the well-loved group known as “Kuya’s Angels,” spoke candidly about how women deserve to be treated and valued in romantic relationships.
The discussion took place during a recent episode of Bianca Gonzalez’s podcast, where the host asked what advice they would give their younger selves when it comes to love. Bianca opened up about lessons learned from her past experiences, particularly moments she now views with embarrassment.

Bianca said, “Ang ia-advice ko lang sa younger self ko, huwag mo nang habulin. Parang nahihiya ako sa sarili ko thinking now ‘yong ginawa kong paghahabol before trying to win person back. ‘Pag ginawa ng daughters natin ‘yon, ‘di ba?”
Mariel strongly agreed with Bianca’s reflection and shared how this belief is something she already tries to instill in her own child. She emphasized the importance of teaching young girls early on about dignity and self-respect in relationships.
“I always think that,” said Mariel, “How am I going to tell her? At this age, sinasabi ko na sa kaniya. Girls never chase after boys. Never.”
Toni Gonzaga echoed Mariel’s sentiments and reinforced the idea that women should recognize their own value. According to Toni, women should never feel pressured to prove their worth or beg for love.
“Tayo ang hinahabol. We are the prize. We are the trophy,” sabi niya.

Toni further explained that love should not be something women have to earn through sacrifice or emotional struggle.
Toni added, “‘Yong ‘you have to earn the love,’ hindi mo kailangang i-earn ang love—”
Mariel quickly added to this point, clarifying where the responsibility should lie in building a relationship.
“Because they have to prove themselves to you,” said Mariel.
The heartfelt conversation resonated with many listeners, especially women who may have gone through similar experiences. Bianca concluded by expressing her hope that their daughters would not repeat the same mistakes they made when they were younger, highlighting how wisdom often comes with maturity and reflection.
Through their honest exchange, Mariel, Toni, and Bianca delivered a powerful reminder: self-worth should always come first, and love should never require chasing or losing one’s dignity.
