DPWH Chief Vince Dizon Speaks on Possibility of Running in 2028 Elections

VINCE DIZON – The Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary reacted to the calls for him to run in the 2028 national elections.

Dizon replaced former Public Works chief Manuel Bonoan in the position when the latter resigned amid the flood control mess. Then, the former was the chief of the Department of Transportation. Bonoan’s resignation came amid the calls for him to leave his position after several officials of the DPWH are accused of corruption.

After assuming his new post, DPWH chief Vince Dizon claimed that he will order the courtesy resignation of all officials of the agency. According to him then, it will include undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, division heads, and district engineers of the agency across the country.

Dizon also claimed that he will abolish the internal investigation committee of the DPWH. According to the Public Works Chief, he does not believe that an agency can investigate itself. Amid the public’s call for an end to corruption, the DPWH Chief assured that they will work on the return of the alleged loot by the corrupt government officials.

Shortly after assuming his current role, netizens noticed the big change in the physical appearance of DPWH Sec. Vince Dizon. There are calls for him to run in the 2028 national elections.

Recently, DPWH Sec. Vince Dizon reacted to the calls for him to in the 2028 national elections. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he clarified that it is “never gonna happen”. He stressed that he is not into politics and he is an employee.

“I’ve said this repeatedly already, I am not a politician, trabahante lang ako. I am just an employee that has been working in and out of government for the last 28 years, that’s all I do,” Dizon said.

According to the Public Works Chief, he wants to return to the private sector after his stint as the secretary of DPWH. Meanwhile, based on the report, he is open to be in the government service again if he will be asked to.

“But if I am asked to serve, I will always say yes to serve, he said.

DPWH chief Vince Dizon reiterated that he is not running for public office. According to him, he is not a politician and he will just do his job. Based on the report, it is not also a big factor on Dizon whether he is praised or criticized over his work.

“My job here is not to please people,” the DPWH Chief said.

Recently, presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos chided DPWH Sec. Vince Dizon following his request to restore a part of the budget of the agency that he previously slashed. The cut came after Pres. Bongbong Marcos ordered him to do a sweeping review on the agency’s proposed budget for next year.
