Robin Padilla on Duterte’s Continued ICC Detention: “Nakakatakot kapag ang nag-iisang Diyos na ang gumanti”

Sen. Robin Padilla Speaks Anew on Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte

ROBIN PADILLA – The Minority Senator reacted to the continued detention of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte remains detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands since March. He was arrested by the Philippine authorities who assisted the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) last March 11 and was flown out of the country on the same day.

Amid his detention, the camp of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte requested for his interim release. Duterte is faced with three (3) counts of murder as alleged “crimes against humanity” filed by the ICC prosecutors. The foreign court has previously denied his interim release plea prior to its recent ruling.

Last November 28, a hearing was held by the ICC over the interim release appeal of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. The former Chief Executive waived his right to personally appear at the hearing and he was represented by his lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman.

The ICC denied the interim release plea of Duterte anew. It saddened not only his family but as well as his supporters in and out of the Philippines and his allies in the Philippine government.

One of those who are saddened over the continued detention of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte under the custody of the ICC is Sen. Robin Padilla. The Minority Senator is vocal about his loyalty to the former Chief Executive. Amid the political turmoil, he claimed that he will smell like Duterte if he will be burned.

Sen. Robin Padilla is also one of the lawmakers who call for the house arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. Several senators approved the resolution that urged the chamber to call for the house arrest of the former Chief Executive.

Based on a recent post of News5 on social media, Sen. Robin Padilla is sad over the continued detention of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte under the custody of the ICC. According to the Minority Senator, it is fearful if God would take revenge over what is happening on the 80-year-old former President.

“Nakakatakot kapag ang nag-iisang Diyos na ang gumanti… You are crucifying an 80-year-old man, you denied him the house arrest that the Filipinos are demanding,” Padilla said.

More than two (2) years ahead of the next polls, Sen. Robin Padilla recently claimed that he will not run in the 2028 elections.
