Amid the Presidency, Marcos Jr. Claims He Didn’t Want To Enter Politics When He Was Young
MARCOS JR. – The President claimed he did not really want to enter politics when he was young as he wants a peaceful life.
In 2022, the only son of the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. won the presidential election. His victory came after his defeat in the vice presidential race in 2016 to former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. His tandem with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte ended the Elections 2016 victoriously.

Then, president-elect Bongbong Marcos told his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, that all his efforts to win the presidency are for them, his parents. Marcos Sr. was the country’s longest-serving chief executive from 1965 to 1986. During his term, he declared Martial Law.

The presidential win of Marcos Jr. was undeniably controversial. Then, many Filipinos were still calling for the return of the alleged ill-gotten wealth of the Marcoses. Despite the criticisms, he pledged to make reforms in the country.
Recently, Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. admitted that he did not really want to enter politics when he was young. Based on a post of News5 on social media, he claimed that he wants a quiet life so he went into business school instead.
“Nakikita ko magulang ko ang hirap ng buhay nila, ang daming sakripisyo…Sabi [ko] tahimik lang na buhay, that’s why I went to business school,” the now-President said.

However, based on the post, Marcos Jr. also revealed that his parents seemed disappointed over his lack of desire to enter politics then. He is the only son of his parents.
“Medyo nadidismaya sa akin magulang ko kasi nag-iisa akong lalaki. Pero ayaw na ayaw ko,” he expressed.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos emphasized that life cannot really be predicted like what happened to him who ended up in politics despite his lack of interest to enter the field then. Meanwhile, he stressed that he did not regret a day of what happened in his life.
Recently, the Philippine government earned massive criticisms amid the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the country. Several members of the House of Representatives as well as some senators and former senators were tagged in the flood control mess aside from many officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Marcos Jr. himself was tagged in the flood control issue in the Philippines. Zaldy Co accused the President and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez of allegedly inserting P100-billion in the 2025 national budget.

Aside from the budget insertion accusation against him and the former House Speaker, presidential son and Ilocos Norte 1st District Congressman Sandro Marcos was also tagged by Zaldy Co in the budget insertion mess. He claimed that the younger Marcos has inserted over P50 billion in just three (3) years.
Previously, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that the camp of Zaldy Co allegedly attempted to blackmail him.
