Marcos Jr. Government “Nearing the Endgame” in Fight vs. Flood Control Corruption, PCO Says

PCO Speaks on Marcos Jr. Government’s Fight against Supposed Massive Corruption in PH

MARCOS JR. – The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) believes that the fight against flood control corruption in the Philippines is “nearing the endgame”.

Arrest warrants have already been released against former House Budget Appropriations Committee chairman Zaldy Co and several other individuals accused in the flood control mess. Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously warned that those who will help the flood control accused with arrest warrants to hide will have to face a consequence.

The President stressed that he was the one who brought up the issue and he will be the one who will bring it to a conclusion. Amid the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the country, he ordered the creation of an independent commission that will investigate the matter.

The order of Marcos Jr. led to the creation of the ICI or the Independent Commission for Infrastructure. The three-member body is led by former Justice Andres Reyes Jr. They have already submitted recommendations for the filing of charges against some of those who are accused in the flood control mess.

The supposed massive corruption in the government through the flood control projects brought countless Filipinos to the streets to protest. Thousands of people joined the “Trillion Peso March” that was held last September 21 and November 30.

Recently, amid the calls for accountability, the Presidential Communications Office expressed its belief that the fight of the Marcos Jr. government against the flood control corruption is nearing its end. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, PCO Secretary Dave Gomez claimed that they are already seeing progress in the government’s steps towards the flood control mess.

Gomez stressed the holding of corrupt officials for accountability, the recovery of the unlawfully acquired wealth, and the implementation of reforms in the government systems. According to the PCO Chief, Marcos Jr. “is not blinking at all from all this political noise. And he will finish this to its logical conclusion”.

“All those three areas, we’re seeing a lot of progress, that’s why we’re confident we are nearing the endgame,” Gomez told ANC.

The PCO Secretary also reiterated the filing of charges against the accused in the flood control saga as well as the remarks of Pres. Bongbong Marcos that more people will be behind the bars before Christmas. Based on the report, he touted the return of millions of Pesos to the government as well as the auction of luxury vehicles.

“Now, cases are being filed, arrest warrants issued, we are seeing people being put to jail, at sabi ng Pangulo, marami pa bago mag-Pasko… Hopefully, we are seeing, nearing the endgame very soon,” the PCO Chief said.

Recently, the Palace also reiterated the claim of Pres. Bongbong Marcos that a “big fish” is one of those who will be jailed due to a supposed flood control corruption.
