Bongbong Marcos Sounds the Alarm on Firecrackers Ahead of New Year Festivities

Bongbong Marcos to Filipinos: Skip the Firecrackers, Celebrate Safely This New Year

BONGBONG MARCOS – As Filipinos prepare to welcome the New Year, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has issued a timely reminder aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring family safety.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has reminded the public to avoid using firecrackers in welcoming the New Year, stressing the importance of safety and accident prevention during the holiday celebration.

In his latest video upload on his official Facebook page, the President urged Filipinos to be cautious and to refrain from lighting firecrackers as the country prepares to usher in another year. According to him, avoiding firecrackers is a simple but effective way to prevent injuries and ensure the safety of every family during the festivities.

“Mag-ingat sa mga paputok. Iwasan na natin ’yan. Doon tayo sa mga torotot at iba pang maingay na mga laruan para kompleto at masaya ang pagsalubong natin sa darating na Bagong Taon,” said President Bongbong.

The Chief Executive emphasized that celebrating the New Year does not have to involve dangerous materials that could put lives at risk. Instead, he encouraged the use of safer alternatives such as party horns, noise-making toys, and other festive items that can still bring joy and excitement without causing harm.

He added that a safe and peaceful family celebration should be given more value, especially at a time when Filipinos are expected to gather with loved ones. For the President, what matters most is the well-being of families and communities, rather than holding on to risky traditions.

President Marcos also pointed out that accidents related to firecrackers continue to occur every year, often resulting in injuries, trauma, and even loss of property. These incidents, he said, can easily be avoided if people choose safer ways to celebrate and follow reminders from authorities.

As such, he reiterated that Filipinos should begin turning away from the traditional use of firecrackers every New Year’s Eve. He believes that changing this long-practiced custom is a necessary step toward fostering a culture of safety and responsibility, especially for children who are often exposed to these hazards.

The President’s reminder aligns with the annual calls from health officials, law enforcement agencies, and local government units to minimize firecracker-related incidents during the holiday season. By choosing torotot and other noise-making toys, families can still enjoy a lively and meaningful celebration while ensuring that everyone welcomes the New Year safe and sound.
