However, amid the holiday season in the country, the Philippine government is surrounded by several issues. Countless Filipinos were left disappointed by the alleged involvement of several congressmen and some senators in the flood control mess. Several officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were also implicated in the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption.

The corruption issue in the Philippine government triggered the “Trillion Peso March”. Thousands of Filipinos were on the streets last September 21 and November 30 to protest against corruption.

Aside from the supposed kickback system, there is also a budget insertion issue in the Philippines. Senate President Tito Sotto previously assured that he will not allow any last-minute budget insertion in the proposed 2026 national fund. He previously assured that he and House Speaker Bojie Dy will make sure of a cleaner budget for next year.
