House Deputy Minority Leader Antonio Tinio Speaks on Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte

ANTONIO TINIO – The House Deputy Minority Leader reacted to Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte declining to attend the probe of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).

Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte refused to accept the invitation of the ICI to attend a hearing. According to him, the independent commission was created under an executive order and cited the separation of powers. He stressed that the ICI supposedly has no authority over him.

There are calls for the Independent Commission for Infrastructure to probe the flood control projects in the district of Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte. Previously, the solon called it as allegedly a “publicity stunt” as he claimed that he is focusing on his work.

The ICI was created under the order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos for the creation of an independent commission that will investigate the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the country. The executive order led to the formation of a three-member body named as the Independent Commission for Infrastructure.

According to Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte, the ICI should allegedly investigate Marcos Jr., the First Family, and former Speaker Martin Romualdez instead. The former House Speaker has previously appeared before the independent commission amid the accusations of flood control corruption against him.

Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez vowed to extend any help for the fast resolution of the issue. According to him, he stepped down from the House speakership so the ICI can fully and freely exercise its mandate to investigate.

Recently, after Cong. Paolo Duterte refused to attend the probe of the ICI, House Deputy Minority Leader and ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. Antonio Tinio called on the Congressman over his alleged “general denial”. He stressed that Duterte must allegedly explain how the government funds were spent in his district.

“Hindi sasapat ang mga general denial. Humarap siya at sumagot sa mga tanong hinggil sa naging paggastos ng pondo ng bayan sa kanyang distrito,” the House Deputy Minority Leader said.

Antonio Tinio also asked about the previous statements of Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte regarding the investigation of the supposed massive corruption in the country. Based on the post, he also asked about his claim that he is allegedly not hiding anything.

“Bakit biglang dinaga si Polong? Anyare sa ‘I welcome the investigation’ at “wala tayong tinatago, wala tayong kinakatakutan’? Wala ka lang palang sisiputan,” Tinio added.

Recently, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte accused the ICI of allegedly being the “tool” of Marcos Jr. against the Dutertes.
