Update on Typhoon Tino’s Death Toll after Storm Brings Heavy Rains, Strong Winds

TYPHOON TINO’S DEATH TOLL – The total count of the deaths caused by the severe tropical storm has reached more than 100.

Heavy rains and strong winds were experienced by countless residents of the different cities in Cebu as Typhoon Tino hit the province. It brought massive flooding that led to the damage of several properties and the loss of livelihood.

In Negros province, Typhoon Tino also brought massive flooding in some areas and tripped off trees that caused power outage in some areas. Currently, several areas in the province still have no power supply. Many areas also lost their mobile internet connectivity.

Based on a post of The Visayan Daily Star on Facebook, Typhoon Tino’s death toll has reached 13 while 31 individuals are still missing. The total death count was confirmed by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio “Bong” Lacson. Here are the specific death counts in some cities where fatalities were recorded:

Crocodile and Wildlife Park

In Cebu, Crocolandia, a small crocodile and wildlife park, got portions of its parameter walls collapsing due to the massive floodwater. The flood affecting the said crocodile and wildlife park sparked concerns among the residents of the nearby areas over possible animal escape. In fact, the sighting of a huge snake was even linked to the incident that affected Crocolandia.

Meanwhile, reportedly, there is no confirmed escape of an animal from the zoo. The massive flooding and the strong winds brought several trees and structures down. Miss Catering’s old house was crushed by a coconut tree during Typhoon Tino.
