PAGASA Issues Typhoon Tino Update as Storm Currently Hits PH
TYPHOON TINO UPDATE – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised signal no. 4 in 8 areas in Visayas as the severe tropical storm enters Cebu.
Severe tropical storm Tino, internationally known as Kalmaegi, is currently within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It brought heavy rains and strong winds in the different areas it crossed and PAGASA previously issued a storm surge warning that advised the residents in 30 areas in Visayas and Mindanao near the coastal areas to move for their safety.

Currently, Visayas is experiencing the wrath of Typhoon Tino. PAGASA stated in its 5:00 a.m. cyclone bulletin that Typhoon Tino brought “life-threatening conditions” over the Camotes Island and was heading to Cebu. The eye of the typhoon was located over the coastal waters of San Francisco, Cebu.

According to PAGASA, severe winds, heavy rainfall, and storm surge may still be experienced even in localities that are outside the focal point of the landfall. Based on the latest update about Typhoon Tino, it is expected to traverse Visayas and northern Palawan until it exits through the West Philippine Sea.
“Due to interaction with the terrain, Tino may slightly weaken while crossing Visayas. However, Tino is expected to remain at typhoon category throughout its passage over the country,” PAGASA said as per the report.
