Paolo Duterte on Ex-PNP Chief Torre: ‘Bato dela Rosa actually served, fought, and bled for this country’

Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte Compares Former PNP Chiefs Nicolas Torre III, Bato dela Rosa

PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao Congressman reacted to former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Nicolas Torre III offering to arrest Senator Bato dela Rosa.

Earlier this month, Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has allegedly issued an arrest warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa. According to him, he even allegedly has a copy of the said ICC arrest warrant against the Senator in his phone.

Sen. Dela Rosa has always claimed that he is allegedly the second person that the foreign court wants to arrest for the investigation of the Duterte drug war. Over the matter, he had multiple change of stance over his willingness to be arrested and sent to The Hague, Netherlands in case an arrest warrant will be issued against him.

The camp of Sen. Bato dela Rosa previously expressed their trust that the Philippine government will uphold the law if there is indeed an ICC arrest warrant against him. Amid the questions on the existence of the ICC arrest warrant, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla claimed that the Ombudsman obtained a copy of the alleged ICC arrest warrant from a third source.

According to the Interior Secretary, the copy of the alleged ICC arrest warrant that his brother has did not come from the ICC. Previously, the elder Remulla claimed that the arrest warrant has to go through several channels and its implementation is an executive function.

Amid the issue, former PNP chief Nicolas Torre III said that he is ready to arrest Sen. Bato dela Rosa if there is an order. Torre was one of those who led the arrest and the transfer of the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands.

The Duterte siblings slammed what was done to their father. Recently, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte reacted to the offer of former PNP chief Nicolas Torre III to arrest Sen. Bato dela Rosa.

Through a post on his official Facebook account, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte expressed his claim that “almost no one remembers” that former PNP chief Nicolas Torre III has led the national police. According to him, Torre’s stint was so short that “it can be measured in hours rather than achievements”.

“Torre’s stint was not a leadership term — it was an intermission, a placeholder, a bookmark in a chapter that nobody read. The only thing shorter than his service is the patience of the PNP officers who wondered how someone so politically fragile ended up in the top post,” Duterte said.

Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte stressed that the Philippines is not an ICC member. He also compared Sen. Bato dela Rosa and former PNP chief Nicolas Torre III and claimed that before Torre should talk about arrest warrants, he must allegedly explain first why his PNP stint was short.

“Bato actually served, fought, and bled for this country. Torre barely had time to find the comfort room in Camp Crame before being replaced,” the Davao Congressman said.

In his post, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte claimed that credibility is earned over time and Torre allegedly did not serve long enough to earn any. According to him, short-term chiefs should not issue long-term threats. Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also spoke on the alleged ICC arrest warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa.
