Storm Surge Advisory of PAGASA amid Severe Tropical Storm Tino
PAGASA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued a storm surge warning due to Typhoon Tino.
Every year, the Philippines is hit by several storms. Countless Filipinos rely on the updates and advisories released by the state bureaus like the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration which previously warned about Tropical Storm Tino which has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and could hit Visayas.

According to PAGASA, severe tropical storm Tino has the possibility of becoming a super typhoon. Several provinces and municipalities have already announced a class suspension. Many local government units have also instructed their disaster and risk reduction units to prepare for the natural calamity. Residents in low-lying areas that are expected to be hit by the eye of the storm were advised to evacuate.

Recently, PAGASA issued a storm surge warning in 30 areas in Visayas and Mindanao. According to the state bureau, a high-risk of life-threatening storm surge may occur in the next 48 hours. Furthermore, it is also stated in the advisory that “there is a possibility of inundation from rising sea water along with high waves in the low-lying coastal communities in the provinces/municipalities of”:

In its storm surge warning, PAGASA advised the residents of the above-mentioned provinces and municipalities to stay away from the beach and coastal areas and cancel all marine-related activities.
