Ombudsman Releases Statement on Massive Flooding Triggered by Typhoon Tino
OMBUDSMAN – The Office assured the victims and the families of those who died due to the flood triggered by Typhoon Tino that justice will be pursued.
Malacañang claimed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., like Governor Pam Baricuatro, is mad over the massive flooding in Cebu. The statement of the Palace came after the Governor pointed out that their province had P26 billion budget for the flood control but they were still flooded.

Several residents in Cebu had to climb their rooftops to evade the rising floodwater. The floodwater level has reached the roof of several single-storey homes in Cebu. Many people died of drowning. Countless homes were also destroyed by the strong winds brought by Typhoon Tino.

In the province of Negros, many people also fell casualties to the wrath of Typhoon Tino. Several cities in the Southern part of the province were hit by massive flash flood that came unexpected at the height of the wrath of the typhon and caused most of the fatalities.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos assured help for the victims of the typhoon. He assured that relief goods will be given and those who are injured will receive medical assistance. The President also said that those whose homes were partially-damaged by the typhoon will get P5,000 while those whose houses were completely-damaged will be given P10,000.

Cebu Gov. Pam Baricuatro claimed that most of the flood control projects in Cebu are either ghost or substandard. According to the Governor, they have checked the flood mitigation in the province and they have also submitted a report to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
Recently, the office of Ombudsman Boying Remulla assured the victims of the Typhoon Tino flood and their families that “justice will be pursued”. Based on a report on Inquirer, it also stressed that it stood with the nation in mourning the fatalities of the calamity.

Typhoon Tino’s death toll has reached 180 with many individuals still missing. Based on the report, the office assured that they are moving on the pursuit for justice for the victims of the flood triggered by Typhoon Tino.
“To the families of all victims of the calamity—we hear you, and we have acted,” the Ombudsman said.
Aside from Cebu, the province of Negros was also hit by Typhoon Tino and many people died due to the flash floods. In Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, a young mother just handed her baby to the rescuers before she was swept away by flood.
