Ombudsman Boying Remulla Claims Flood Control Cases To Be Filed vs. Martin Romualdez in 6 to 9 Months

Winnie Monsod Asks Ombudsman over Flood Control Raps for Former Speaker Martin Romualdez

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla claimed that flood control cases will be filed against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in six (6) to nine (9) months.

Recently, President Bongbong Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez were tagged into the corruption issue by Zaldy Co. The resigned Ako Bicol Partylist Representative claimed that Marcos Jr. and Romualdez allegedly masterminded a P100-billion budget insertion in the 2025 national fund.

According to Zaldy Co, he allegedly confirmed the order to insert a P100 billion budget to then-Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and then-Budget Sec. Amenah Pangandaman and they supposedly confirmed it. He further claimed that the P56 billion kickback allegedly went to Marcos Jr. and Romualdez.

Prior to the claims of Zaldy Co, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez was already dragged into the flood control mess by contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya and former marine Orly Guteza. The latter, a former aide of Co, claimed that he was allegedly part of the team that supposedly delivered suitcases filled with millions of money to the residence of the former House Speaker.

Romualdez resigned from being the House Speaker amid the flood control accusations against him. According to the presidential cousin and Leyte Congressman, he wants the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to be able to freely and fully exercise their task to investigate the flood control mess.

Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez appeared before the investigation of ICI. He also claimed that he is willing to extend all the help he can for the speedy resolution of the issue. Amid his denials, many Filipinos are asking if flood control charges will also be filed against the former Speaker.

Recently, during a flood control forum organized by the University of the Philippines College of Law at U.P. Bonifacio Global City, Ombudsman Boying Remulla was asked if flood control charges will be filed against former Speaker Martin Romualdez. The question was fielded by U.P. professor Winnie Monsod.

Incoming Ombudsman Boying Remulla

Based on a report on GMA News, Ombudsman Boying Remulla affirmed that flood control cases will be filed against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in 6 to 9 months. According to the country’s chief graft-buster, they are looking at other angles but he refused to go into details.

“I’ve discussed even this morning with my people. I’ve discussed with certain politicians from the House who are not with him. I just gave them an idea of what can be, what we are not getting about,” the Ombudsman said.

Monsod responded to the Ombudsman saying she will hold on to his answer. Based on the report, the country’s chief graft-buster vowed that he will not file a lousy case. Previously, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that those who are involved in the flood control corruption will not have a merry Christmas.
