During Necrological Service, Marcos Jr. Speaks on Conversation w/ Juan Ponce Enrile
MARCOS JR. – The President shared the revelation of former chief presidential legal counsel Juan Ponce Enrile when he told him he wants to be 100 years old like him.
Last November 12, the daughter of former Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile, Katrina Ponce Enrile, revealed that her father was in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and was battling pneumonia. He was the chief legal presidential counsel of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

A day after it, the family of former Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile announced his death. According to Katrina, they brought her father home as it was really his wish to spend his final moments at home surrounded by his family. Pneumonia was cited as the cause of death of the former chief legal presidential counsel and his reported age was 101.

Undeniably, countless Filipinos were in awe of the age of former chief legal presidential counsel Juan Ponce Enrile. He served for several terms as Senator. It was in 2013 when he had his last speech as the chief of the Senate. In 2019, he vied for a seat in the upper chamber but lost after ranking 22nd in the elections.
Being the chief legal presidential counsel of Marcos Jr. was the last role that Enrile held when he died. Aside from the necrological service in the Senate where he served for several years of his life, the same service was also held in Malacañang Palace.

Based on a report on Inquirer, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. delivered a speech during the necrological service for former chief legal presidential counsel. According to the President, he told the former Senate Chief that he wants to live to be 100 years old with the same sharpness as his.
“Tito, ano bang sikreto? I want to be like you also when I’m—and first, I want to live to be 100 years old. And I want to be like you when I’m 100 years old,” Marcos Jr. said.
Based on the report, the President then revealed that Enrile made a revelation to him that he is actually unsure if he is 101 years old. According to the former Senate President, his records got lost during the war and he thinks he is older than his reported age.
“And then sabi niya, ‘Alam mo anak, I’m not sure that I’m 100 years old. I think I’m older.’ Sabi ko, ‘Bakit?’ ‘Nawala ‘yung records ko sa giyera’,” the President shared.
Aside from the President, previously, the son of former Pres. Joseph “Erap” Estrada, Jake Ejercito, also paid tribute to former Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile.
