Statement of Marcos Jr. as Typhoon “Uwan” Being Monitored Inside PAR
MARCOS JR. – The President assured that all the Philippine government agencies are under “full alert” for Typhoon “Uwan”.
Following the wrath of Typhoon Tino, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. apologized to the victims of Typhoon Tino and assured them that the government will help them recover from the calamity. According to the Chief Executive during his visit in Cebu which was devastated by the typhoon, the local government units prepared for the storm surge but it was flash flood that occured.

Amid the aftermath of the Typhoon Tino and the presence of a much stronger typhoon in the country now, Marcos Jr. declared a state of national calamity. He approved the proposal of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Council or NDRRMC to make such declaration.

Typhoon “Uwan” has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility or PAR. It is expected to cross several regions in Luzon but its size is known to almost cover the entire the country. Recently, Marcos Jr. spoke on the government’s preparation for the typhoon.
Based on a report on GMA News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that all the government agencies are under a “full alert status”. He stressed that they are responding quickly for the safety of the Filipino people.
“Naka-full alert and lahat ng ahensiya ng pamahalaan at agad kumilos upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng ating mga kababayan,” he said.
According to the President, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) have prepared lifeboats, rescue vehicles, and relief goods. He also stressed the early deployment of buses and trucks by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for evacuation efforts.
Based on the report, Marcos Jr. stressed that pre-emptive evacuation is ongoing now amid the preparation for Typhoon Uwan. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA raised the tropical cyclone wind signal in several areas in the country:
