Update on Flooded Crocodile and Wildlife Park in Cebu “Crocolandia”

Crocodile and wildlife park in Cebu “Crocolandia” getting affected by the massive flooding brought by Typhoon Tino raised concerns.

At least 26 individuals were confirmed dead in Cebu due to the massive flooding in the province. Before it crossed Negros province, heavy rains and strong winds left Cebu severely-devastated. The floodwater even reached the roof of several single-storey houses in the province.

Aside from the massive flooding, the strong winds also brought countless homes to the ground. Several Filipino families were left homeless by Typhoon Tino that greatly battered the province of Cebu. After it hit the province, eight (8) areas in Visayas were placed under signal no. 4.

Amid the massive flooding in Cebu, based on a post of SunStar Bacolod on social media, an emergency situation took place at Crocolandia, a crocodile and and wildlife park in Cebu, after portions of its perimeter walls collapsed due to the flooding. It sparked fears of a possible animal escape.

Crocolandia is a home to several crocodiles and other dangerous wildlife as per the post. Amid the massive flooding, the residents nearby the wildlife park grew concerns on public safety. The sighting of a large snake amid the flooding even came with speculations that it possibly escaped from the zoo.

Meanwhile, based on a post of Iloilo Goldern Heart Volunteers-Western Visayas on social media, there is no confirmed escape of crocodiles or other dangerous wildlife from the Crocolandia. The emegerncy crews and the local government officials also moved to secure the animals at the zoo.

Amid the wrath of Typhoon Tino, PAGASA raised signal no. 4 in some areas in Palawan after the storm hit cebu.
