Sen. Chiz Escudero Posts Reminder to Public amid Supposed Massive Corruption in PH Gov’t
CHIZ ESCUDERO – The Senator called on the public not to be too judgmental despite the hate for corruption and misconduct of power.
Countless Filipinos were disappointed after some senators, congressmen, and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were tagged in the supposed flood control corruption in the country. The issue started when President Bongbong Marcos flagged 15 contractors for allegedly getting a huge part of the country’s total spending for the flood control deals.

Following the remarks of the President, then-Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero admitted that he received a P30-million campaign donation from one of the contractors flagged by Marcos Jr. According to the then-Senate Chief, the contractor is his long-time friend who is also from Sorsogon.

Amid the investigation, it was later on identified that the contractor who donated to Escudero is Lawrence Lubiano and he is tied with the Centerways Construction. He was called by the House of Representatives to attend a hearing.
The contractor donor of Sen. Chiz Escudero claimed that the P30-million campaign donation came from his own pocket. The Commission on Election investigated the alleged campaign donation as well as the contractors who gave donations to election candidates then as it is against the rules.
The Comelec recently cleared Escudero from the issue over the P30-million campaign donation by a contractor to him. However, he remains tagged in the supposed flood control corruption. A former undersecretary of DPWH claimed that Escudero supposedly received a P160-million flood control kickback. In his response to the claim, the Senator asked about the alleged involvement of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Zaldy Co.
Recently, Sen. Chiz Escudero took to social media a reminder to the public not to be too judgmental. In his post, the Senator recognized that the people have the right to be angry towards corruption and any form of misconduct of power.
Amid the massive corruption issues in the country, the senators released their Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth. Sen. Chiz Escudero was questioned and criticized was criticized over his P18.8 million net worth which makes him the poorest senator.
