Ombudsman Boying Remulla Speaks on ICC Warrant vs. Sen. Bato dela Rosa over Duterte Drug War

BATO DELA ROSA – Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla said the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant against the Senator.

Amid the continued detention of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte after the ICC rejected his interim release plea, there has always been talks if the foreign court will also issue an arrest warrant against Sen. Dela Rosa who was the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the Duterte administration.

Former Pres. Duterte is facing three counts of murder as alleged crimes against humanity. In the case against the former Chief Executive, “Dela Rosa” who was cited as PNP chief was mentioned. Sen. Bato dela Rosa has always been vocal that he is allegedly the second person that the ICC supposedly wants to investigate over the Duterte drug war.

Sen. Dela Rosa initially claimed that he’s ready to be with the “old man” in The Hague, Netherlands and take care of him. However, shortly after it, he also claimed that he seek all the legal remedies possible for him to evade the arrest in case the ICC will issue an arrest warrant.

The former PNP Chief-turned-Senator even claimed that he will seek the protection that the Senate can afford him as an institution. Then, the sitting Senate President was Sen. Chiz Escudero who is now one of his colleagues in the Minority bloc of the upper chamber.

Sen. Bato dela Rosa has expressed several times a desire to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte in The Hague, Netherlands but has yet to visit the former Chief Executive. Recently, based on a report on The Manila Times, Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that the ICC has issued an arrest warrant against the Senator.

“I have it on good authority that the ICC has issued a warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa,” Ombudsman Remulla told dzRH radio program.

Sen. Bato dela Rosa has yet to issue a statement on the alleged issuance of the warrant of arrest by the ICC against him. Over a week ago, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes claimed that Sen. Bato dela Rosa is next to be arrested by the ICC and Sen. Bong Go may be arrested next year.
