Here’s Zeinab Harake’s Viral Comment on Paying Taxes
ZEINAB HARAKE – Social media star Zeinab Harake once again captured online attention after opening up about how it hurts to pay taxes, linking her frustration to the issue of corruption in the Philippines.
Zeinab Harake didn’t hold back her thoughts on corruption in the Philippines during her latest vlog, where she sat down with fellow influencer and Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Big Winner Mika Salamanca.
In the vlog, the two talked about Mika’s growing luxury bag collection, which quickly led to a candid and humorous discussion about money, spending, and taxes. Mika shared that her mother had already scolded her for frequently buying expensive designer bags.

“Sabi ng mom ko, tumigil na ako. Manahimik na ako kakabili ng bags,” Mika revealed.
Zeinab, however, defended the idea of rewarding oneself for hard work, explaining that she makes it a point to buy something for herself every quarter, right after she pays her taxes.
“Ok lang din bigyan mo ng award sarili mo. Halimbawa, ako kasi, every 3 months, every quarter kasi ang BIR di ba? So kapag nagbabayad ako ng BIR, nasasaktan talaga ako. So kapag nagbabayad ako, di ba dapat deserve ko rin ng something for myself? So every 3 months ako bumibili. Kumukurot lang ako ng konti [sa budget]. So ok lang ‘yung i-reward mo ‘yung sarili mo,”
But the conversation quickly took a serious turn when Zeinab expressed frustration over corruption in the country.
“Kinukurakot nga nila, wala tayong nagagawa, ‘di ba?” she added, referring to corrupt officials misusing taxpayers’ money.

Mika laughed at Zeinab’s remark but joined in on the commentary, jokingly saying, “Totoo naman. Kailangan kurakutin din natin ang sarili natin. Hindi lang dapat sila [nangungurakot sa atin]”
Zeinab agreed, reminding Mika that there’s nothing wrong with spending on things one has worked hard for. “Tsaka pinaghirapan mo naman ‘yan. Mapupuno mo ‘yan soon [closet ng mga bags]” she said encouragingly.
The vlog, though lighthearted in tone, resonated with many viewers who related to Zeinab’s mix of humor and honesty—voicing the frustrations of ordinary Filipinos about taxes and corruption while also emphasizing the value of self-reward and hard work.
