Vico Sotto Shares His Plans After His Term Ends

Vico Sotto Says He Won’t Run in 2028

VICO SOTTO – After years of serving as Pasig City’s beloved mayor, Vico Sotto has revealed his next chapter — and it’s all about going back to the classroom.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has already mapped out his plans after his term as a public servant ends in 2028.

According to the young mayor, he is open to exploring new opportunities outside politics, particularly in the field of education. “Ang plano ko, balikan ‘yung mga hindi ko nagawa dahil tumakbo akong mayor. I’d like to teach if I have an opportunity. That’s one thing,” Vico shared in the latest episode of The Pod Network Entertainment.

Although he has yet to decide on a specific subject or course to teach, Sotto believes he has gained valuable experience over the years that he can pass on to students. The son of veteran stars Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes reflected on his years in public service, saying, “9 years of experience (as mayor) plus 3 years as a councilor. So, 12 years of experience as a government official plus other experience engaging the government with other hats on.”

“I feel I have a lot of experience to share to younger students,” he added. Vico previously taught for one semester at Arellano University before running for mayor of Pasig in 2019, showing his genuine passion for education and mentorship.

Aside from teaching, Sotto also plans to return to school and continue his advocacy work. He explained that being mayor limits his ability to take on other professional endeavors due to existing laws. “Kasi kapag mayor ka, unang-una, sa Local Government Code bawal ka magkaroon ng ibang trabaho. So, of course, dapat sumunod tayo du’n,” he said.

Vico Sotto’s forward-looking mindset reflects his consistent focus on service, learning, and integrity — qualities that have earned him respect as one of the country’s most admired young leaders.

Earlier, Sotto made it clear that he has no plans to run for a higher office in the 2028 elections, choosing instead to take a step back from politics to focus on personal and professional growth.

As his term draws to a close, the Pasig City mayor seems ready to embrace a new chapter — one that involves sharing his knowledge and continuing his mission to help others through education and advocacy.
