POKWANG – Comedienne Pokwang has spoken up after a fake AI-generated video claiming she endorsed an online gambling site went viral on Facebook.
Veteran comedienne Pokwang has firmly denied the authenticity of a circulating video on Facebook that falsely shows her endorsing an online gambling site. The actress quickly addressed the issue on social media, clarifying that the video is fake and AI-edited.
In a post on her official Instagram account, Pokwang issued a public warning to her followers and urged them to report the misleading content. Her caption read: “AI alert! Hindi po totoo na nag endorse ako ng online gamblíng na ito! please report this fb account! @nbiphofficial.”
The deceptive clip, allegedly edited using artificial intelligence (AI), features Pokwang seemingly speaking about a gambling platform. Below the footage, a text appears that falsely attributes a promotional statement to her:
“Negosyo at JL16 – Sure na Win-Win! ‘Oops, I’ve got some gossip! Aside from my business, I’ve been playing JL16 – super fun and always winning! First top-up? You instantly get $500! I’ve almost won $1,000,000 already!’ – Pokwang, Comedian & TV Host Top-up. Play. Win!”
Pokwang quickly debunked the video, emphasizing that the content is entirely fabricated. “Hindi po totoo,” she stressed, expressing disbelief and frustration at how her image was manipulated for fraudulent promotion.
The incident underscores the growing concern over deepfakes and AI-generated content, which have increasingly been used to spread misinformation and exploit the likenesses of public figures without consent. Experts warn that these deceptive technologies pose significant challenges to digital trust and online safety.
Pokwang’s quick response serves as a reminder for social media users to be vigilant against fake content and to verify information before sharing. She also appealed to her followers to immediately report the Facebook account responsible for spreading the scam video.
