Statement of Incoming Ombudsman Boying Remulla on Flood Control Issue in PH
Incoming Ombudsman Boying Remulla spoke on the flood control scam which is the biggest corruption issue in the Philippines now.
Following the retirement of former Ombudsman Samuel Martires, Department of Justice chief Boying Remulla was one of those who submitted an application for the post to the Judiciary and Bar Council. The JBC is the one that submits a shortlist to the president and the chief executive will choose who will be the next chief graft buster.

DOJ Sec. Boying Remulla was included in the shortlist for Ombudsman applicants submitted to Marcos Jr. Previously, prior to the submission of the shortlist, the Justice Secretary said he has informed the President about his decision. He is confident that the DOJ will be in good hands if he will be appointed as the incoming Ombudsman.

Shortly after the JBC confirmed that it has submitted the shortlist for Ombudsman applicants to Marcos Jr., the Palace announced that the President picked DOJ chief Boying Remulla as the new Ombudsman. The President has yet to speak on his decision which gathered different reactions from the Filipino people.

Following his appointment, incoming Ombudsman Boying Remulla was asked about what the public can expect from him regarding the flood control projects investigation. Based on a report on GMA News, he stressed that there will be fact-finding.
“Sa rules ng Ombusdman, may fact-finding. Iva-validate namin lahat ng data na isa-submit. ‘Yung mga finile na ng ICI, ‘yung ifa-file ng DOJ (Department of Justice) na with regards to those… Salary Grade 27 and above,” he said.

Based on the report, incoming Ombudsman Boying Remulla further said that the public can expect a swift action on flood control mess. The ICI has already recommended the filing of charges against Zaldy Co and some officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
“Maaasahan na gagalaw ‘yan nang mabilis. At susubukan nating pabilisin ang proseso. Kasi nga, hindi naman ito lihim na sa atin. Alam na natin ang nangyari kaya bibilisan natin nang kaunti ito,” the incoming Ombudsman said.
While it was Marcos Jr. who appointed him to the position, presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos previously claimed that she will stand against Remulla’s appointment as Ombudsman for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and her family.
