FORMER PNP CHIEF – General Nicolas Torre III was spotted at the anti-corruption event, “Kung Walang Korap, Walang Mahirap”, organized by the Liberal Party.

Prior to his post in the PNP, Torre was the chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). He played a significant role in the arrest of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as well as his transfer to the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands. He gained both praises and criticisms over the unexpected turn of events last March 11.

Shortly after the controversial arrest of the former President, Torre was promoted and, soon after, Marcos Jr. appointed him to replace former PNP Chief Rommel Francisco Marbil who retired in June. During his term as the chief of the national police, he responded to the “challenge” of acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte.

Torre offered a charity boxing match after Duterte claimed that he can take down the then-PNP Chief on a fistfight. A boxing match was indeed set and Torre visibly prepared for the said match. According to him, his share on the proceeds that will be gathered from the sponsors will be donated to the typhoon victims.

Former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre was declared “winner by default” after acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte did not arrive at the set charity boxing match. However, just a few weeks after it, the Filipino people were surprised that Torre was relieved from the position.

Despite his removal from the PNP’s lead, Torre claimed that he has no hard feelings towards Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The Marcos Jr. administration also confirmed that an anti-corruption post is allegedly set to be offered to the former PNP Chief. However, during a recent interview, he claimed that there’s still no update about it.

Recently, former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III was spotted at the anti-corruption event set by the Liberal Party. It was entitled “Kung Walang Korap, Walang Mahirap” based on a post of Inquirer on social media. The event was held in Quezon City.
