The proceeds of the said charity boxing match were reportedly intended for the victims of the typhoon in the country. During his most recent State of the Nation Address or SONA, Pres. Bongbong Marcos even called then-PNP Chief Nicolas Torre as “the new boxing champ”. Countless Filipinos were surprised by his removal from the position which came just days after it.

Following his removal from the lead of the Philippine National Police, Malacañang said that a new position is set to be offered to former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre. Then, acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte claimed his belief that there was probably an internal problem as he sees the relief of Torre as an alleged “demotion”.

Based on a recent post of News5 on social media, there are calls for former PNP chief Nicolas Torre III to run for the vice presidency in the next election. He is currently on leave but he previously stressed that he remains a member of the PNP despite his removal from the top post.

Torre expressed doubts on his capacity to be the country’s vice president. Based on the post, he claimed that he might be impeached right away if he becomes the vice president of the country.

“Parang di ko kakayanin dahil pag-chief PNP nga lang, 85 days nga lang ako, tanggal agad. Baka naman pag nag-VP ako, ma-impeach kaagad ako,” Torre said.

According to him, there are still no updates on the position that Marcos Jr. wants to offer to him. Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reacted to the relief of former PNP chief Nicolas Torre III from his previous post.
