Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Allegations amid the Flood Control Mess in PH
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President reacted to the allegations and speculations that the flood control issue probe will lead to Malacañang.
Last September 21, thousands of Filipinos joined the street protest actions to express their dismay to the government over the corruption issues in the country. The supposed multi-billion corruption through the flood control projects funded by the government left countless Filipinos disappointed and angry.

Amid the flood control issue in the Philippines, Marcos Jr. ordered the creation of the independent probe team with the power to issue a subpoena and freeze or seize assets linked to anomalies. The three-member Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI was formed.

One of the congressmen who are accused of allegedly receiving kickback from the flood control projects is presidential cousin and Leyte Congressman Martin Romualdez. Amid the accusations, he stepped down from the House speakership.

According to Leyte Cong. Martin Romualdez, he resigned from being the House speaker to allow the full investigation of the ICI without undue influence. He denied the accusations against him saying that he does not need and will not allow himself to be corrupted by money that does not belong to him.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously claimed that not even former House Speaker Martin Romualdez nor his allies will be spared from the flood control probe. However, amid the investigation of the ICI, there are speculations and allegations that the probe will allegedly lead to the doorsteps of Malacañang. The President recently reacted to it.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that the allegations that the flood control probe will eventually lead to the doorsteps of Malacañang are supposedly politically-motivated. The President is confident that the administration will be able to prove it regardless of whatever accusation will be thrown at the admin.
Marcos Jr. also stressed that he is not hiding anything. According to him, the opposition allegedly wants him to be included in the flood control issue to oust him from the position.
”Wala naman tayong tinatago, wala tayong – I know that there are several – the opposition would love to bring me to this – to include me in all of this. But that’s politics. That is not – that is not to do about corruption. That is to do about politics. Gusto nila akong tanggalin,” he said.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that he knows what they did and did not not do. Based on the report, the President stressed that the ICI investigation will not spare anyone and they will follow where the evidence will lead.
Undeniably, there are calls for the President to resign. Amid the rift between them, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that Marcos Jr. won’t resign so she is calling for him to do his job instead.
