Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes Speaks on Senators Bato dela Rosa, Bong Go
BATO DELA ROSA – Former Senator Antonio Trillanes claimed that the International Criminal Court (ICC) is allegedly set to arrest the Senator next and then Sen. Bong Go will supposedly be arrested next year.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte remains under the custody of the ICC since March. The former President is faced with charges of three (3) counts of murder as alleged “crimes against humanity” filed by the prosecution panel.
The ICC denied the interim release plea of the former President. The foreign court also ordered Duterte to undergo the checkup of three (3) medical experts to assess his fitness to stand trial. The confirmation of charges hearing that was set by the ICC last September 23 was postponed after the former President’s lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman, claimed that his client is allegedly “not fit to stand trial”.
The British-Israeli Lawyer called on the ICC to adjourn all legal proceedings indefinitely. Duterte’s camp also hoped for his interim release application to be granted. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, a “third country” allegedly committed to host the interim release of the former President.
In the Philippines, several senators voted in support of the Senate resolution that urged the chamber to call for the house arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Among them are senators Bato dela Rosa and Bong Go.
“Kaya aking pakiusap ngayon sa ating mga kasamahan sa bulwagang ito na sana hindi pa huli ang lahat. Hindi pa huli ang lahat na tayo’y magkakaisa. Kung mabigat man sa kalooban ninyo ako’y nakikiusap na sana isantabi muna natin ang pulitika at ating paghariin sa ating mga puso ang ating pagiging Pilipino na kung saan nakaukit sa ating kultura at sa ating tradisyon ang pagmamahal, pag respeto, pag-aruga sa mga matatanda,” Sen. dela Rosa said.
Dela Rosa was the first chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) under the term of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. Amid the detention of the former President under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands, he believes that he is the second on the list of people who might be arrested by the foreign court.
Recently, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes claimed that Sen. Bato dela Rosa is the one that the ICC will allegedly arrest next. Based on a post of News5 on social media, speaking at One PH’s Sa Totoo Lang, the former Senator was asked about the information that he got from the ICC.
According to Sen. Antonio Trillanes, aside from Sen. Bato dela Rosa, the ICC is allegedly set to arrest Sen. Bong Go, too. He was a long-time special assistant of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte before he became a senator. Based on the post, Trillanes, a known Duterte critic, claimed that Go’s arrest may allegedly take place next year.
“Si [Bato dela Rosa] ‘yung susunod na aarestuhin… Tapos si Bong Go, mga next year ‘yan,” Trillanes said.
Recently, Trillanes filed charges against Go and Duterte before the Ombudsman. Sen. Bong Go recently broke his silence on the plunder and graft charges filed by Trillanes against him.
