Rep. Zaldy Co Speaks on Revocation of Travel Clearance by House
ZALDY CO – The Representative claimed that he intends to return to the Philippines amid the accusations against him over the flood control mess.
There are countless calls for Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Co to return to the Philippines and face the accusations against him. Some former officials of the Department of Public Welfare and Development (DPWH) and controversial contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya linked Co to the flood control issue in the country.

Presidential son and Ilocos Norte Congress Sandro Marcos is one of those who urge Zaldy Co to return to the country and face the accusations. His son, Ellis Co, also called for him to go back and answer to the questions of the Filipino people. Amid the flood control mess, House Speaker Bojie Dy revoked the Travel Clearance of Co and ordered him to return to the country within 10 days since his receipt of the notice.

Dy replaced former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in the House leadership. The Presidential Cousin and Leyte Congressman resigned from his post amid the accusations of allegedly receiving kickback from the flood control projects of the government.

According to Romualdez, his decision to step down from the House leadership is in line with his pursuit to allow the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI to conduct its mandate fully and freely. Pres. Bongbong Marcos ordered the creation of the ICI and claimed that not even Romualdez nor his allies will be spared from the flood probe.
Recently, Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co answered to the notice sent to him by House Speaker Bojie Dy over the revocation of his Travel Clearance. He was already in the United States for his medical treatment when the issue broke out.

In a statement shared by ABS-CBN on social media in courtesy of Co’s office, the Representative claimed that he intends to return to the country and face the accusations against him. However, he also expressed his side over the revocation of his Travel Clearance citing his treatment.
“I am saddened that my colleagues in the House of Representatives would deprive me of the time needed for medical care that I have previously scheduled… I have every intention of returning to the Philippines. I am also intent on belying the false claims made against me before the proper forum,” he stated.
While claiming that he intends to return to the Philippines, Rep. Zaldy Co admitted that he is apprehensive about what awaits him in the country. According to him, he was put to public condemnation and judgment by the alleged “false, baseless, and politically-charge statements” against him during the flood investigations by the Senate and the House.
“This has caused the public to condemn and prejudge me even though no complaint before the proper fora has been filed against me,” Co wrote based on the post.

Aside from Co, Romualdez as also recently tagged by another witness during a Senate flood probe into the issue. Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez reacted to the claims of the surprise witness presented by Sen. Rodante Marcoleta during the Senate hearing.
