Did You Catch This? Wednesday Drops Surprise Filipino Lines in New Episode
WEDNESDAY – Filipino fans of Wednesday got the shock of their lives when Season 2, Episode 6 casually slipped in a full conversation in Filipino.
Filipino fans of the hit Netflix supernatural series Wednesday were in for a surprise when characters casually spoke in Filipino during the sixth episode of its second season.
The scene featured werewolf Bruno Yuson, portrayed by Filipino-American actor Noah Taylor, taking a phone call while Enid Sinclair, played by Emma Myers, stood nearby. Before answering, Bruno’s phone had been buzzing with messages, setting up the unexpected moment.

“Miss na kita. Miss ko na ‘yung pagpasyal natin sa beach. Miss ko na lalo ‘yung mga matamis na labi mo. Baba ko na ‘to, mahal ko,” Bruno said during the call.
Enid overheard the conversation and reacted with curiosity. When Bruno quickly explained that he was “just talking” to his “mom in the Philippines,” Enid jokingly remarked that he and his mother “are awfully close.” She then playfully repeated his Filipino lines before pressing him about whether he had a secret girlfriend.
“Was that really your girlfriend back home you failed to mention in the act of time-honored misogynistic deception?” she teased.
Bruno, caught off guard, asked how Enid understood Filipino. She explained that she had “picked it up” from her “Filipino fencing instructor,” Datu. Bruno tried to clarify, admitting that he wanted to tell her but that “it’s complicated.”
Enid, however, shut him down with a firm parting shot: “Let me uncomplicate it. We’re done. ‘Wag mo na akong kausapin, manlolokong taksil.”
The inclusion of Filipino lines delighted many viewers in the Philippines, who took to social media to share their surprise and excitement. Some praised the show for its cultural nod, while others commented on how naturally the dialogue was delivered.
Taylor, who plays Bruno, is a rising Filipino-American teen actor and musician. In interviews, he revealed that he “did a lot of takes” to land the role. His heritage also resonates with the character, as his mother is Filipino and his father American.
Netflix released the first half of Wednesday’s second season in August, with the remaining episodes dropping on September 3. The new season follows Wednesday Addams as she returns to Nevermore Academy to face new challenges and adversaries.
