House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos Says Pick of New Speaker “Consultative”
SANDRO MARCOS – The presidential son and Ilocos Norte Representative hit back at Davao 1st District Congressman Paolo Duterte following his accusation over the change of leadership in the House of Representatives.
Presidential cousin and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez resigned from being the House Speaker amid the accusations linking him to the flood control mess in the Philippines. Controversial contractors Pacifico and Sarah Discaya claimed in their joint affidavit that Romualdez allegedly get kickback from the government flood control deals awarded to them.

The claim of the Discayas was made during a Senate flood probe. According to the controversial contractors, they allegedly had no choice but to ride the supposed “system”. They claimed that they make very little profits from the government flood control deals because of the alleged kickback to government officials as well as officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

According to Antipolo Rep. Ronaldo Puno who confirmed the resignation of Romualdez as House Speaker, the former House Chief is after the reputation of the House of Representatives in his decision to step down from his position. The confirmation came after countless Filipinos were left puzzled by the reports that the things of Romualdez were being taken out from the House Speaker’s Office last Tuesday eve.
As he announced his resignation, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez said that “sometimes, the greatest act of leadership is the grace to let go”. He is replaced by Isabela Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy in the position. However, amid the change of leadership in the lower chamber, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte claimed that it was allegedly presidential son and Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos who picked Dy to replace his uncle.

Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte claimed that Rep. Bojie Dy replacing Rep. Martin Romualdez is allegedly “just another cover-up move”. According to him, Dy and Majority Leader Sandro Marcos are party-mates in Partido Federal so the latter allegedly chose the former — to which the presidential Son reacted to.

Based on a post on Inquirer, Ilocos Norte Congressman and House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos hit back at Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte who accused him of allegedly being behind the pick for the new House Speaker. He stressed that they made a “consultative” move in choosing who will be the next chief of the chamber.
“I can assure you that we are consultative with all the party leaders. You can ask them, we met for plenty of weeks,” Marcos said.
House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos also took swipe at Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte. Based on the post, the presidential Son expressed that if only Duterte was present during work and their sessions, he might have known about the matters.
“If only Cong. Pulong showed up to work and during sessions, he might have seen these things. But I’m sure he’s busy looking for the P51 billion that was spent in his district,” the House Majority Leader said.
Amid the issue, Sen. Bato dela Rosa claimed that he knows newly-elected House Speaker Bojie Dy.
