At the start of the hearing, Sen. Ping Lacson and Sen. Rodante Marcoleta exchanged heated statements that led to the Senate Blue Ribbon Chairman putting the session on pause. It was after Marcoleta insisted about Lacson’s stand when he was asked on who he thinks is more deserving to be under a witness protection program — to which he answered Brice Hernandez over the Discayas.

Lacson explained that it was only his opinion. Based on a post on News5, during the Senate flood probe, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta suggested to invite former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson in the next hearing over the issue.

Based on the post, the proposal of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was yet to be approved by Sen. Ping Lacson, the committee’s chairman. Marcoleta was the chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee prior to the shakeup in the chamber.

Amid the flood control mess in the Philippines, former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is allegedly part of the problem. He also suggested that the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) should start their investigation in Ilocos Norte because it is where the President came from.

Singson endorsed Marcos Jr. in the 2022 Elections, thus, his recent remarks sparks confusion among many Filipinos. According to him, the now-President initially wanted to run for vice president but it was him who advised him to file for candidacy for president and to slide down as the vice president of now-Vice Pres. Sara Duterte if she decides to take the presidential race.

Amid the issue of flood control anomalies in the country, former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson called on the students to skip their classes until all corrupt officials of the government have resigned. His remarks did not sit well with many people.

In fact, Malacañang appealed to the DOJ, the PNP, and the DILG to investigate the said remarks of Chavit Singson.
