Amid the allegations of flood control corruption against him, Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez decided to resign from being the House Speaker. Antipolo Rep. According to Romualdez, the accusations against him are affecting the reputation of the House of Representatives as well as the Marcos Jr. administration. House Deputy Speaker and Zambales Rep. Jay Khonghun claimed that Romualdez chose to “sacrifice” for the chamber and the country by resigning from being House speaker. He stressed that “everything’s well” in the chamber.

However, according to Davao 1st District Cong. Paolo Duterte, the resignation of Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez and with Isabela Rep. Bojie Dy replacing him in the position is allegedly “just another cover-up move”. He also claimed that presidential son and Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos allegedly had a hand on the pick for the new House Speaker.

Cong. Paolo Duterte stressed that Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos who is currently the Majority Leader and Isabela Rep. Bojie Dy are both under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas. Based on a post, he stressed that it was allegedly the son of the President himself who chose Dy to replace his uncle in the position.

“Now, Martin Romualdez will be replaced, and then Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy will be installed as Speaker. Whose choice was it? None other than Sandro Marcos — party-mate in Partido Federal, the son of the President himself. What is this? Just another cover-up move,” the Davao Congressman claimed.
