Update on the Impact of #OpongPH amid the Heavy Rains, Strong Winds in Several Areas

#OPONGPH – In the province of Negros Occidental in Visayas, the water level in a new stockyard in Moises Padilla rose while the river in La Castellana overflowed.

Heavy downpour of rainfall is felt in several areas across the Philippines now as the country braves the wrath of Typhoon Opong. Several cities and municipalities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are under storm signals due to Opong and the residents are advised to monitor the updates continuously and implement all measures necessary for their safety.

One the provinces in the country that are under storm signals today due to Typhoon Opong based on the update issued by PAGASA or the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Administration is Negros Occidental. Several cities and municipalities in the said province which is in Visayas are experiencing heavy rainfall today.

In the municipality of La Castella in Negros Occidental, based on a post of RMN DYHB Bacolod 747 on Facebook, the water in Ibid creek in Sitio Tamburong, Barangay Biak na Bato overflowed. Following the said incident, the road near the creek is blocked by the sand brought by the overflowing of the water.

Based on the post, the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental’s clearing team is currently conducting a clearing operation in the area blocked by sand as it is impassable. Here are some of the other photos posted by Atty. Ray Diaz on social media:

In the municipality of Moises Padilla which is near La Castellana in Negros Occidental province, the wrath of #OpongPH caused the water in the river in Barangay 1 to overflow in a new stockyard as per another post. Here are some of the photos showing the situation:

Also in Negros Occidental, the heavy rains of #OpongPH caused flooding in some barangays in Talisay City. Based on a post of a netizen on social media, Barangay Zone 14 was flooded due to the severe tropical storm and the residents were advised to evacuate for their safety.

Aside from Negros Occidental, the provinces of Samar and Masbate are also affected by Typhoon Opong and it also caused a landslide in Leyte.
