Statement of Marcos Jr. amid Flood Control Projects Issue in PH

MARCOS JR. – The Philippine President was “teary-eyed” due to dismay over the suffering of the Filipino people due to the flood control corruption.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos was greatly disappointed by the anomalous flood control projects funded by the government. Amid several areas in the country still frequently experiencing flooding when heavy rains hit the country, the President stressed that the country has already spent over P500 billion for the flood control projects.

Amid the flood control mess in the country, Pres. Bongbong Marcos ordered the “lifestyle check” among all officials of the government. He also wants the creation of an independent commission that will check the anomalous flood control projects in the country.

During a previous press conference, Marcos Jr. revealed that 15 contractors got around P100 billion from the government’s total flood control spending from July 2022 to May 2025. Here are the contractors flagged by the President:

The Senate launched its own investigation on the flood control projects issue in the Philippines. Recently, the part 1 of the Episode 4 of the BBM Podcast was released. In a part of the said interview with Vicky Morales, Marcos Jr. was seen by the Kapuso news anchor as “teary-eyed” as he talked about the flood control mess. He admitted it citing that his dismay.

“Yes, because I’m very upset. I see people having a hard time, and they don’t deserve it,” Marcos Jr. said.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos said that the people only deserve to be punished if they are bad but it is not the case. According to the President, the Filipinos did nothing but work and love their family.

“Mabuti kung masamang tao ‘yan, dapat parusahan. Hindi naman eh, walang ginawa ‘yan kung hindi magtrabaho, kung hindi mahalin ang pamilya,” Marcos Jr. said.

During the podcast interview, the President asked why the people should be punished so one can get rich. He stressed that it makes no sense.

“Ba’t mo paparusahan? Para magpayaman ka? That makes no sense to me,” the President said.

Malacañang previously confirmed that the executive order for the creation of the independent body to probe the flood control issue. Pres. Bongbong Marcos wants the said independent commission to have a “subpoena power”.
