IMEE MARCOS – A Senate session meant to tackle flood control projects took a playful turn when Sen. Imee Marcos’ crocodile-inspired “Buwaya Bag” stole the spotlight.
A unique fashion accessory unexpectedly became the center of attention during a Senate session when Senator Imee Marcos brought along her crocodile-inspired handbag. The eye-catching item even drew a lighthearted comment from Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri in the middle of official proceedings.
The session, held on Tuesday, September 9, focused on the investigation of flood control projects. However, it was Marcos’ brown crocodile handbag that briefly stole the spotlight.
Upon noticing the senator carrying the stylish piece, Zubiri could not help but make a playful remark while reading his notes. “I’d just also like to make special mention of the bag of Senator Imee Marcos,” he said.
He added, “I have never seen such kind of a unique bag. It can be focused. Does that have a name?”
The comment prompted laughter from Marcos, who was seen placing the bag beside her seat as her colleagues chuckled at the moment.
Not letting the spotlight pass, Marcos later highlighted her handbag on social media. On Facebook, she shared several photos of herself at the Senate while showcasing her crocodile-inspired accessory. “Lahat nakaabang kung sino na ang mga bagong pinuno ng mga komite sa Senado ngayong Martes, Setyembre 9, pero agaw eksena talaga masyado ang BB bag na dala ko,” she wrote.
In a short video clip, the senator also playfully showed off what she dubbed her “BB” or Bondying Buwaya bag. “Nakahuli na ako ng isa. Dapat makulong silang lahat. Lahat ng buwaya. Lahat ng lulong,” she quipped, drawing amused reactions from her supporters.
While the Senate session was primarily meant to address infrastructure issues, Marcos’ handbag managed to provide a lighthearted moment, sparking conversations both inside and outside the plenary hall.
The incident demonstrates how even in the midst of serious discussions, a touch of humor and personality can lighten the atmosphere—proving that sometimes, fashion can steal the show in unexpected places.
