Filipina Teen Warrior Charlie Ratcliff Wins Gold for the Philippines in Asian MMA 2025
CHARLIE RATCLIFF – Calatrava, Negros Occidental, beams with pride as young fighter Charlie Ratcliff brought home the gold medal at the 1st Asian Mixed Martial Arts Championship 2025 in Bahrain.
Calatrava, Negros Occidental, proudly celebrates another milestone as its very own Charlie Ratcliff clinched a gold medal at the 1st Asian Mixed Martial Arts (AMMA) Championship 2025, held in Bahrain from August 27 to 29.
Ratcliff emerged victorious in the 45kg category during the inaugural Asian MMA Youth Championship, which also served as a qualifier for the upcoming Asian Youth Games. Her triumph adds to the growing recognition of young Filipino athletes in the international martial arts arena.

This victory is not the first for Ratcliff, who has been consistently making waves in combat sports. In 2024, she was crowned champion in the Asian United World Wrestling (UWW) Grappling Gi and No-Gi divisions, securing gold medals in both categories. She also dominated the mats during the 2nd Annual Copa Dumau De Jiu-Jitsu in November 2024, where she impressively brought home a double gold medal.
Martial arts excellence runs deep in Ratcliff’s family. She is the daughter of Maria Aisa Ratcliff, the first Filipino champion in UWW Gi and No-Gi grappling, hailing from Barangay Patun-an, Calatrava. This legacy of achievement has clearly inspired Charlie to follow—and even expand upon—the trail blazed by her mother.
Representing DEFTAC Negros, one of the Philippines’ leading martial arts teams, Ratcliff trains under the guidance of Coach Tanil Aposaga. With her discipline, determination, and skill, she continues to raise the Philippine flag high in international competitions.

Her recent gold medal finish in Bahrain further cements her reputation as a rising star in the world of martial arts and serves as a source of pride for Calatrava and the entire country.
As she continues her journey, Charlie Ratcliff’s achievements not only highlight her personal dedication but also underscore the growing presence of Filipinos in the global martial arts community. Her story is a powerful reminder that with passion, hard work, and proper guidance, young athletes can reach great heights and bring honor to the nation.
