Statement of Malacañang after First Lady Liza Marcos Inspected the PH Film Heritage Building
First Lady Liza Marcos was really very dismayed over the work of the Discaya firm on the Philippine Film Heritage Building as per the Palace.
Controversial contractor Sarah Discaya who previously admitted to owning nine (9) construction companies faces countless criticisms. She and her husband, Curlee, became the most controversial contractors among the contractors flagged by President Bongbong Marcos as their previous interviews resurfaced amid the issue.

The Discaya couple had an interview with Julius Babao and Sarah Discaya was also interviewed by Korina Sanchez. They flaunted their lavish lifestyle including their luxury cars. At the Senate hearing, she claimed that they have 28 luxury cars. However, now, at least 12 of the luxury cars of the Discayas are under the custody of the Bureau of Customs.

Recently, another work of one of the companies owned by the Discayas was exposed. Here are the nine (9) companies they won:
- Alpha and Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp.
- St. Gerrard Construction and Development Corp.
- St. Timothy Construction Corp.
- St. Matthew General Contractor and Development Corp.
- Elite General Contractor and Development Corp.
- Amethyst Horizon Builders and General Contractor, and Development Corp.
- YPR General Contractor and Construction Supply Inc.
- Great Pacific Builders and General Contractor Inc., and
- Way Maker One Person Corp.
Based on a report on News 5, First Lady Liza Marcos inspected the work of the Great Pacific Builders and General Contractor Incorporated, one of the construction firms owned by the Discayas, in the Philippine Film Heritage Building. The projects was awarded by the Department of Public Works and Highways – South Manila Engineering District to the Great Pacific Builders with a contract cost of P143.22 million.

Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro also checked on the work of the Discaya-owned construction company in the said building. Based on the report, USec. Claire Castro revealed that the project which has a revised cost of P107.9 million was supposedly finished by September 4. However, works are still ongoing.

The Great Pacific Builders asked the DPWH for an extension of the deadline. However, based on the report, the Malacañang press official that some of the finishing works allegedly do not meet the quality standards. She stressed that First Lady Liza Marcos is very dismayed.
“Nakita niyo po yung downspout kanina hindi siya normal dahil ‘yung pagtulo ng tubig ulan diretso sa kalsada, lahat ng taong dadaan pwedeng mabasa,” Castro said.
According to the Palace official, the work of the Discaya-owned firm on the Philippine Film Heritage Building will be probed. If it would be discovered that the contractor did not act with good faith, charges may be filed against them.
“Ang isa pang nakikita dito ay malamang na ‘yung ibang kinatawan ng DPWH ay nakikipagsabwatan sa mga contractors,” the Palace official said.
Based on the report, Castro also stressed that the contractor should explain the delay in meeting the deadline as well as the “below standard” materials they saw. She stressed that the First Lady is disappointed.

According to USec. Claire Castro, she and Pres. Bongbong Marcos have yet to talk about the work of the Discaya-owned firm in the Philippine Film Heritage Building. However, she is sure that the President will get angry if he knows about it.
Amid the issue, nine (9) construction companies owned by Sarah Discaya and her husband lost their contractor’s licenses.
